UPCOMING & RECENT SCREENINGS MoMA PS1, Greater New York Cinema, NYC, July 29 - August 9 (Interkosmos, La Trinchera Luminosa, The Juche Idea) NEWS I will be present at the July 31 screenings at MoMA PS1 in Queens, NY at 6PM as part of the Greater New York exhibition. The Museum of Modern Art in New York has acquired the communist trilogy (Interkosmos, Trinchera, Juche) for their permanent collection. Phaidon Press has included an essay and photo spread on La Trinchera Luminosa del Presidente Gonzalo in their new book TAKE 100—The Future of Film: 100 New Directors. In distribution news Kino Lorber has acquired The Juche Idea, so it will be touring around before its home video release in early 2011. The New York Times covered The Juche Idea twice this spring: Dennis Lim wrote an article on three new films about North Korea called Retricted, but Not Deterred; and Mike Hale wrote a review called It's Not Quite Hollywood Above the 38th Parallel. I will be in Chile at the end of August at the Santiago International Film Festival (SANFIC) for a retrospective of my films. I am sloooowly working on a new film: a bit about the Cold War, liberation theology and Reagan among other things. The usual.
